(1) Great to hear about the benefit of magnesium in depression. Magnesium is a natural calcium channel blocker, so it helps lower blood pressure. It also is beneficial for radioprotection (protection from radiation of all kinds, both ionizing and non-ionizing (various EMF's). GREAT to hear that in this study mag. glycinate and mag. taurate crossed the blood brain barrier; it didn't take any more obscure forms of magnesium to do that. (2) UV radiation not only produces vit. D for the mice but also causes the release of nitric oxide which likely conferred the cardiovascular benefit. (3) Glycine of course is a major building block of master antioxidant Glutathione (which I would expect to lengthen lifespan). Glutathione is made of 3 peptides: glycine, glutamate and cysteine. THANKS Joseph for the gems!
r/saturatedfat's current exploration on low protein diets for the metabolically unwell is a fascinating counterpoint to 'protein = satiety'. Also recommend reading exfatloss' substack.
I don't think the person eating the protein understood the point of eating the protein.
I'm going to guess that they filled up on protein but then also wanted to have their dessert too. Which if you're trying to lose weight is what you want to not have most times.
By eating so much protein, you're already going to limit the amount of other food that you eat while still providing most nutrients for your body.
I suspect the person who says they can’t keep it up, isn’t really committed to weight loss. I say this as someone married to that person. He has heard over and over, from me and multiple other sources, that prioritizing protein will really help his efforts. He claims he “knows” it, and yet he chooses at every single meal to eat less protein than he could, less than is available to him, because he wants the other things more than he wants the weight loss. But is of course offended if I dare point that out. It’s kind of maddening.
Getting enough electrolytes, protein, and sun makes a massive difference in mood. Add exercise and be well.
TIL dogs can have autism!?

So, only around 1.5kg of beef or 1kg of chicken per day to keep depression away? Love to hear it!
