If I'm reading this right then low DHA intake also heavily correlates to increased risk of preterm birth; and a preterm birth also leads to a decreased in content of DHA in the breast milk which further limits the actual DHA intake for the child.
Interesting post, especially the point about vegetable oils. In the countries I've lived so far, I think only in Italy they aren't so normalized. Over there, you can buy liter bottles of quality olive oil for a good price. The Italians and their food traditions. 😎
But in Brazil for instance, good fats are expensive for the middle and lower classes and people rather buy vegetable oils. It's sad, but most people just don't know any better.
What fats should I be cooking with when avoiding seed oils? Smoke point of olive oil isn't great for frying. Peanut oil, maybe? What else is left? Ghee?
