If cessation means that "cognizance of the passage of time, ceases", then how did Delson know when exactly an hour passed to come out of cessation?

Thanks for the question, I should have addressed that!

He sets an intention beforehand.

Have you ever had something important that you need to do, so you set an alarm but in the morning you wake up by yourself about 5 minutes earlier than the alarm? It's like that. You create a strong intention to end the cessation at a specific time and then it happens.

Delson by the way also claims he can awake from sleep at whatever time he intends without an alarm.

You should look into Anhad Naad and Radha Soami meditation. It’s slightly on the religious side but ignore the religiousness if needed but does have good info on samadhi/sachkhand/enlightenment.
