I just found out all the reasons I should keep taking ashwaganda, hahaha! Judging by my lifelong OCD episodes, I've probably got way too much glutamate and not enough gaba. My cortisol tends to be on the high end and not drop off in the evening, and my restless legs syndrome suggests not enough dopamine in the brain. But I'll definitely stick with low doses since I'm on psych meds. Too bad I can't just exchange them for ashwaganda completely...
I never take it more than 2-3 times per week, and get great sleep on it. No discernable side effects except that I can still feel the effects the next morning sometimes.
Since its a nightshade, I wonder if some of the people who get awful side effects are allergic to nightshades?
Thanks for the update. I take ashwaganda with a small cup of orange/lemon juice along with L glutamine in stressful days. Afternoon or evening before sleep. But only in the my worst days, not necessarily every night
